IDA makes its triumphant return (sort of)!

We used to teach our Monday night Lindy Hop classes in a venue on Dublin’s quays called the
International Dance Academy, up through the summer of 2008 when they closed their doors.  Since then, we’ve been patiently waiting their new venue to get up and running.  Well, it finally is!  Now re-named the National Dance Academy, they actually have not one but TWO new studios, and we’ll be teaching in BOTH of them!  Needless to say, we are extremely excited at this great new opportunity!

The two NDA studios are located in the City Centre and in Fairview.  Their addresses:

On Mondays, we’ll be in the Temple Bar studio.  Beginners will still be 7-8 p.m. and improvers will still be 8-9 p.m., just as before.

On Thursdays, we’ll be in Fairview teaching Beginners 8:30-9:30 p.m.  In January we’ll hopefully be adding in Improvers class as well, but at the minute it’s only Beginners at the Fairview studio.

At both studios, classes will now be taught in an 8-WEEK session.  Previously the sessions were 6 weeks long.  Please note the change.  Since we are making the sessions longer, the price will also be going up, to €90 for the 8 weeks.

The NDA is run by our good friends at Afrimania (www.afrimania.com), who you may know from their long history of Salsa classes and social nights in Dublin and surrounding areas.  You can find the full NDA schedule on their website.

Also, please note that with this move back to the NDA, they are in charge of class bookings, so if you want to reserve a spot in the class or have a related enquiry, please contact them on 0818 333 666.  Of course, we can answer any other questions you may have about the class.

For more information about our classes, of course, you can check the Classes page.

See you on the dance floor!

3/9/09

First of all, as it says on the Home page, please note that on Wednesday, September 9th,
there will be NO Route 66 at Q Bar due to the night being moved to be a part of the Fringe
Festival. See www.dublindy.com for more information.

This is for one night ONLY. Route 66 will be back at Q Bar again the following week, Sept. 16th. See you then!

And, of course, the big news:

Jumpin' at the Riverside is going to get Drogheda dancing!

That's right, folks, we're bringing Swing to Drogheda!

Starting on September 22nd, Brú Bar and Bistro (www.bru.ie) will host Jumpin' at the Riverside, an evening of Swing music and dancing. Doors open at 7:45 p.m., and admission is a cool €7.

For those of who who have been to Route 66 on Wednesdays or the Hep Cat Club on Mondays, this night will run exactly the same:

Jumpin' at the Riverside will be presented by Jamie and Clare in association with Karl Kyck. Karl has been
dancing for nearly 6 years and teaching for the last two years. Similarly to Route 66, where Jamie and Clare share the teaching and DJing duties with Jessica of www.dublindy.com, Jamie and Clare will alternate presenting Jumpin' at the Riverside with Karl.

Brú, of course, is well-known in Drogheda, not least for its semi-circular bank of floor-to-ceiling windows that gives a panoramic view of the Boyne River. Being able to dance while looking over this beautiful vista will be brilliant. And the upstairs bar has a relatively open layout with a fantastic floor and lovely décor. Overall, it will make for a perfect venue to host the evening. In keeping with the Swing era theme, it's also worth noting that Brú have an extensive cocktail menu.

Jumpin' at the Riverside, an evening of Swing music and dancing. Every Tuesday at Brú Bar and Bistro, Haymarket, Drogheda. Admission €7, Doors 7:45, beginners lesson 8-8:45, social dancing 8:45-11. Email us if you have any questions.

Next New
Lindy Hop class session at the International Dance Academy begins:
