First of all, big changes are in store for Route 66 once again! Frm March 26th, we’re
adding a class from 7:00 to 7:45 called “Beyond the Basics.” This class is meant for people who
have been coming to the Beginners drop-in lesson on Wednesdays for a while, are comfortable with the dance, and want to expand their Swing repertoire. This will serve a couple of purposes: First of all, it will allow us to keep the easier steps for the beginners, allowing them more time to learn and become comfortable with the dance, without having to worry about boring the people who have been coming to the lessons for a long time. Similarly, it will allow us to teach somewhat more challenging steps – and more of them – to the long-timers, without having to worry about scaring off the beginners or doing something too hard for them. Finally, it will hopefully divide up the number of students, which has recently been getting to be nearly too big for the space we have! :-)

Unfortunately, this means there will no longer be an Intermediate Lindy Hop class taught on the Wednesday nights. However, to make up for this, Jessica will be teaching an Intermediate Lindy class at her new Lindy class venue on Tuesday nights starting in April! Finally, we’re going away on holidays for the second half of June, meaning we’ll be missing a few Wednesdays, but also a few Mondays! :-O We have a Monday class session starting June 9, and we’ll be there for that class, but we’ll miss the next 3 classes.  Don’t worry, though, very good friends of ours (who also happen to be very good dancers) will be covering the Mondays for us, so if you’re in that class session, you’ll be in very good hands! :-) And we’ll be back then for the last 2 classes of the session, so you wont be rid of us completely! ;-)

Happy New Year! And with the new year come big changes! First of all, the times
of our Monday Lindy Hop classes are changing. Improvers are now on from 6.30 to 7.30
and Beginners are on from 7.30 to 8.30. The International Dance Academy is bringing in this
change so they can fit in extra dance classes. You can find more info on our classes on the Classes page.

Secondly, and more importantly, starting in January we will be sharing Route 66 on Wednesdays (see the What's On page) with our friend and fellow teacher, Jessica! We'll be alternating weeks with her from now on. She'll be teaching and DJing on the first night of Route 66 in the New Year - January 9th - then we'll be doing January 16th, then she'll be back on January 23rd, etc. Hopefully this will increase the variety both of moves taught in the lesson and of music played during the night, and thus really freshen things up for everyone. :-)
